The Board of Health, in cooperation with the Department of Homeland Security, has established the Boxborough Emergency Reserve Corps to better prepare the town to handle natural and man-made disasters. For more information, click on the link.
The Boxborough Board of Health consists of three individuals elected to three-year terms of office. The Board works to ensure, maintain and improve the health and well being of the residents of Boxborough in accordance with applicable State and local laws and regulations. There are no specific requirements for being a member of the Board of Health, other than being a Town resident and possessing a willingness to serve and an interest in public health. Individuals who would like more information are invited to contact Maureen Adema (978-264-1726) or attend a regular meeting.
The BOH initiated an aerial larvacide program in 2007 to reduce the emergence of spring mosquitos and reduce the potential threats of exposure. These applications are conducted by the Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project (CMMCP) annually in April, then subsequently in July (if warranted by wet conditions and as indicated by the larva tested).
