The Special State election is Tuesday, June 25.  The polls, located at Boxborough Town Hall, 29 Middle Rd., will be open from 7:00am-8:00pm.  Absentee Ballots are available in the Town Clerk's office.  The deadline to apply for an absentee ballot is Monday, June 24, at noon.

Dog license applications are overdue.  There will be a $25/dog late fee charged in addition to the licensing fee.

Responsibilities  

 

The Town Clerk is the official keeper of records for the Town of Boxborough. The office handles the recording and preservation of town records, including:

  • Bylaws of the Town of Boxborough
  • Birth, death, marriage certificates
  • Board of Appeals filings and decisions
  • Recording the annual town census and street list
  • Posting notification of all meetings of all town governmental bodies
  • Town meeting warrant and minutes certification of all actions voted at town meetings
  • The Town Clerk is responsible for issuing permits and licenses, including:
  • Marriage Licenses
  • Permits for Raffles and Bazaars
  • Business Certificates
  • Dog Licenses
  • Burial Permits
  • The Town Clerk is the chief election officer of the town and oversees all local, state and federal elections, including:

    • Certification of candidates' nomination papers and petition articles
    • Supervision of voter registration
    • Issuing of absentee ballots
    • Staffing local, state and federal elections
    • Reporting and certifying election results

    The Town Clerk is responsible for disseminating information on Open Meeting Law and Conflict of Interest Law.

    Requests for information

    The Public Records Law allows ten (10) days to fulfill a request for a public record. However, in most cases we are able to accommodate your request within a day. To request copies of records or any research of documents, you may make a request in person or you may write to us at the Boxborough Town Hall (address given above). If there is a cost for a document, please note the amount given for the relevant document and include a check payable to "The Town of Boxborough" with your request.
